Sept 1: Students will continue notes on observation and inference.
Advanced will continue to conference for Science Fair projects. Sept 2: Students will conduct an activity that allows them to practice the idea of a unified measurement system and ask themselves the question, "Why do we need a worldwide measurement system?" Sept 5: LABOR DAY NO SCHOOL Sept 6: Measurement packet in class Sept 7: Measurement packet in class (Finish for homework if not completed in class) Sept 8: Grading measurement packet Sept 9: Finish grading measurement packet Sept 12: Introduce the Town Hall Debate and Research Project. This is an in class project where students are introduced to an issue our town is having.....a cosmetics company wants to build in our town and help our economy grow, but they do testing on animals and many in our town feel strongly about the issue. There will be a Town Hall Meeting Friday to hear both sides of the issue (for/against animal testing) and students will vote as members of the town to decide if the company will build near our town of Wilsonville, or have to find a new location. and they need to research for/against based on their "expert job title" that was assigned to them when they entered the room. Students will be gathering research from at least three different sources (websites) and citing them in their notes. These notes will be completed and turned in through the Google Classroom by Thursday. Sept 16: Town Hall Meeting for Wilsonville! Students need to use their "expert opinion" to help convince the "town" about their side of the animal testing issue and whether or not the cosmetics company should build in our town.
