selections signed by teachers and parents. To be turned in to science teacher as soon as they get
signed.....the sooner the better.
Feb 9: Students will play KaHoots! to help practice/review for the Ch.10 Test tomorrow.
HW: STUDY FOR CHAPTER 10 TEST!!!!
Feb 10: Chapter 10 Test
Feb 13: Students will have an introduction to the Heat Transfer Lab they will be working on for the next few
weeks. They will start by taking a quiz to review the concepts that were taught during the Ch.10 unit
and start to think about how the idea of heat transfer can be looked at in other ways. The END
GOAL FOR THIS LAB will be introduced to allow students to begin looking at what it is they need to
do in order to reach the goal for the lab. If time allows, students will be allowed to pick their groups of
three and decide who will have what job within their "company".
Feb 14: Once students are in their group of three (called a company), they will each be tasked with the job of
researching "construction sites"; "Construction Site A", "Construction Site B", and "Construction Site
C". Once all of the goals within each "company" are laid out, each employee will then go to their
respective job sites (All the "A's" with the "A's"....All the "B's" with the "B's".... All the "C's" with the
"C's") and gather information from their "Construction Site" and return back to the company to report
on their findings. They are each responsible for "THEIR OWN" reports!
Feb 15: Students will return to their "construction site" to continue gathering information and once all the
research has been gathered, they will return to the "Company" and report on their findings from the
"Construction site" they visited.
Feb 16: While back at their "company", students will begin the process of bringing together all the information
they collected. They will organize the information gathered at each of the different "Construction
Sites" and start the process of building a final report that combines all the findings into one cohesive
paper for their investor......i.e. the Teacher!
Feb 17: Work on the final proposal to the investor will continue. This needs to be "perfect" in every way, i.e.
spelling, grammar, paragraph numbers (5 in total), opening paragraph, closing paragraph, 3 body
paragraphs etc. Please use the tools you are given to help build your proposal WITH EACH
OTHER!!!! Google Docs is great for this.
Feb 20: NO SCHOOL, PRESIDENT'S DAY OBSERVED!!!
Feb 21: Students will place the finishing touches on their proposals and turn them in for review to their
investor by the end of the business day (end of class). Any additional time needed should be taken
outside of work (school).
Feb 22: Once all the proposals have been written, the company then needs to begin the building process of
their house. All companies will get the same basic blueprints and supplies with which to build their
homes. Each company is responsible for their own home and the results it yields.
Feb 23: Once the homes are finished, the company needs to take measurements to check their home for
energy efficiency. Once all the tests have been taken, the company needs to come together and
report on their findings.
Feb 24: Once the company has compared their findings they need to create a plan on how to make their
home more energy efficient. The investor will provide certain materials from which each company
can choose to help improve their home. Once the materials have been selected, the company will
go back to their home and make the adjustments decided upon as a company and repeat the tests
to finalize their work.
Feb 27: Students will continue with home modifications and begin the second round of testing with the
insulation modifications included. Data/ results will be recorded.
Feb 28: Continuation with the project and begin the final writing process and finish the proposal.
